We have been hand feeding babies 2 mos and they are heading to their new homes. I've had to explain "sleep" habits to buyers so not to be alarmed when they find their birds in "weird" positions.
soooooo....1 parakeet loves to sleep on her back or side. Hubby found her the first time and of course freaked. Happy huts have been interesting as well..we find them inside or on top..or sleeping on their backs or their heads hanging out of the hut (that one was alarming also). I have a nanday who sleeps in a blanket...we find our birds on the bottom of their cages w/ feet in the air, in food dishes SIDEWAYS!!!! and of course those hard sleepers that don't wake up!
Each of them have differnt sleeping habits..or whatever you call them but I know some of them have scared us to death!

Wow I can't say any of mine have as strange a habits as yours. My Peach Front sleeps on top of her happy hut. My African Grey will only sleep in a Grey Happy Hut and her tail sticks out. My Sun Conure sleeps in his Happy Hut that is the size of a Macaws that is what he came to us with. My parakeets all seem to perch together.

my birds hate "nite nite" time! well the canary doesnt he falls asleep early, has his head tucked by the time i come around with the blankies at 9pm. the tiel gets so upset when i start saying "nite nite, time to go nite nite"!! unless hes already in the cage its "watch your fingers time" to put him to bed! if he's already in the cage he will try to rush to the door screaming the whole time. then when the cage is covered, he will be silent for a few minutes then call out cajoling me to come take him out!! this begging can last 15 minutes but he is just ignored so he will go sleep! the parrotlet has learned (though she wont do it everynight) to go in th ecage to her sleeping perch when i start saying "go nite nite)! she is very good usually but now and then i have to endure a sharp nip if i have to put her to sleep!!!

Mine tend to put them selfs to bed. Except my Sun but he is learning that when we say Nite Nite that he needs to go to bed. Before he would just bite and through a fit. Now he is going into his cage and saying Nite Nite to us as we cover him up. He sleeps in a huge bed that came with him it is an Extra Large happy hut. He looks so small in it.

My Peach Front likes to sleep on top of her happy hut and my Grey always sleeps in her's.

My boys & girl have a routine of their own.

In summer it's when it's dinner time, they may choose to come out after or occasionally prefer to go straight to sleep. Dinner will be about 7pm. Bed between then & 9pm. Winter they start to scream for dinner about 4pm & settle themselves
to bed shortly after. They rise about 8am summer winter. They don't make a sound until they hear us up, then you can hear them talking quietly

My cockatiel will scream bl**dy murder when it starts to get dark, he wants bed & he wants it NOW!!
He sleeps with his favourite toy with a bell on it. If he gets disturbed he viciously attacks the bell to let
us know that he's pee'd about being disturbed LOL

My sunnie screams bl**dy murder once 'dinner' is mentioned, yep, they ALL know the word dinner! Once she's been fed she snuggles in to sleep, on longer days she will come back out for a play & then back to bed. She sits on her highest perch & leans against her favourite toy. That's how she sleeps & it looks extremely uncomfortable.

My eclectus says 'want ya dinner' when he's getting hungry. He also see's my cockatiel as his 'big' brother & follows suit
with him. If my tiel is in bed or eating, so will my ekkie be. If my ekkie doesn't notice my tiel in his cage eating or sleeping, he's more than happy to stay up as late as he possibly can. Most of the time he will go & eat his dinner, then want to come out again for a few more hours of play & snuggles good night. When he's ready for bed he will say, 'go see Cricket?' (my cockatiel).

They all share a bedroom which has a dimmer light switch & an oil heater for winter. Because of mouse & rat problems in the area I remove the food after they've eaten, I dim the light just a little, not too bright, not too dark. Too bright & my tiel gets angry LOL About 1 or 2 hours later I dim it as far as it will go & they all get into their positions of sleeping. I give them 1/2 hour to settle before turning the light off.

What a schedule sounds like it is well planned.

My youngest daughter's little parakeet cloud has a happy hut that she happily perches on during they day, but when it comes to bed time only her swing will do.

My dusky conure Dudley puts himself to be most nights, in his happy hut. When he is REALLY tired he will sleep flat on his tummy!

My newest baby Wheeler, a beautiful blue front amazon, thanks Linda, sleeps in his favorite corner, by his mirror. The cutest thing is he can't sleep without talking/singing to himself first!!!
